What is 'Vox Anni'?

posted Oct 2, 2015, 4:37 AM by Chad McGowan   [ updated Oct 2, 2015, 4:38 AM ]

It is no surprise in today's culture that we do not offer Latin here at AHS, but the original Romantic language is infused in words all around us. Looking at the title of the Ashland High School yearbook we can see that Vox Anni is not English and appears to be Latin in origin. A little research on the title gives us the following translation:

Google translate for Vox Anni
We are "The Voice of the Year". We embody that by producing a book every year that reflects the student body population and its diversity in interests, backgrounds, abilities, and school spirit. The name 'Vox Anni' was given to the book in its infancy. We have an archive of books dating back to the 1950s and by the 1970s our book was titled Vox Anni. We use this name, both as tradition and as a way to emphasize what it is we provide by doing a yearbook each and every year.

posted May 14, 2013, 1:14 PM by   [ updated Sep 4, 2017, 8:04 AM by Chad McGowan ]

 Senior portraits must be...
  • Submitted to no later than October 27, 2017 (portraits done by Grynn & Barrett will be submitted by G&B)
  • Full color
  • Portrait (as opposed to landscape) layout
  • The AHS senior should be the only person in the photo
  • Head and shoulder portraits on neutral background preferred. Any studio background, solid, or master background acceptable. Hands and 3/4 length photos are acceptable.
  • All clothing and props must adhere to the AHS dress code.
    • The student must appear to be wearing clothes, so be careful about tube tops, tank tops, or strapless dresses.
    • Underwear and bras may not be showing.
    • Any props must be acceptable in school, please get them pre-approved to avoid conflicts (nothing in your picture that is prohibited in class; nothing that can be construed as a weapon; nothing demeaning to other students; no cars).
  • See "Seniors: Get in  the Book!" in the menu for more info on size, pixels, DPI, and other technical aspects of your senior portrait.

Our official photographer is Grynn & Barrett.  If you get your photo taken with G&B, they will provide the pose of your choice to the yearbook by the deadline.  The last day for seniors to get their senior portraits taken with Grynn & Barrett is October 1, 2017.

Spirit Week

posted Oct 30, 2011, 2:08 PM by   [ updated Oct 30, 2011, 2:19 PM ]

By all measures spirit week was a success!  Students, teachers, and staff dressed up in pajamas, neon, 1980's garb, sports apparel, ninja garb, and their class colors.  Student Council organized a fun week of events capped off by the homecoming rally on Friday and dance on Saturday night.

We got lots of great photos for the yearbook.  If you have pictures of student activities, clubs, sports events, or just everyday student life at Ashland, send them to us at  The best ones could be used in the yearbook!
